Working visit by Stephan Neijenhuis, Member of the Second Chamber, and Daniël Wigboldus, the King’s Commissioner

On 22 June, Stephan Neijenhuis (Member of the Second Chamber) and the King’s Commissioner, Daniël Wigboldus, paid a working visit to the Euregio Rhine-Waal, the GrenzInfoPunkt and Emmerich am Rhein.

Following a brief introduction by the King’s Commissioner, Daniël Wigboldus, Andreas Kochs and Heidi de Ruiter informed those present about the activities of the Euregio Rhein-Waal, whilst Marco Flipse and Carola Schroer explained the remit of the GrenzInfoPunkt and the current challenges (the 34-day rule, the situation of Eastern European migrant workers). The delegation then visited the town of Emmerich, where

Mayor Claudia Lindlahr welcomed the delegation and a discussion on labour migration took place with staff from the public order office.

Various topics were discussed during the working visit, which focused on the labour market and labour migration. Among other things, the discussion focused on an exemption from the lorry toll for German ambulances in the Netherlands, as ambulances are currently unable to benefit from this exemption.
