This year, a record number of twelve German fire brigades took part in the competitions. Eight Dutch fire brigades also participated. A separate competition track was set up for both countries in the De Meteoor concrete factory. The brigades were confronted with a scenario in which the concrete factory had been broken into and a fire had broken out, injuring one of the two burglars, who had to be rescued. The brigades from Barneveld and Hassum (Goch) were the most successful in controlling the fire and were the winners of the competition.
The International Firefighting Competitions are supported by the Euregio Rhine-Waal and are made possible with funds from the EU subsidy programme Interreg Deutschland-Nederland within the framework of the Small Projects Fund (KPF).
