Those taking part in the discussion were Jörg Matenaers; Esther van de Plasse, a specialist in geriatrics and senior consultant in palliative care of the hospice Liemerije; Anette Jeuken, Managing Director of the de Cocon Hospice (VPTZ Land van Cuijk); Julia Loth, Head of the Donsbrüggen Inpatient Hospice; and Sanne Jacobs, Euregio Rhine-Waal.
When are patients entitled to a place in a hospice, how long are they allowed to stay, what is the occupancy rate, how many rooms are available in each hospice, and how do you communicate with patients, health insurance providers, GPs, relatives and other hospices? These were among the issues discussed in detail. Those present agreed that such an exchange is incredibly important, as there is much to learn from one another, and it makes a great deal of sense to exchange ideas both within and beyond one’s own national borders, given that the hospices are located so close to the border.
A further exchange will therefore take place in the future, with the aim of establishing this exchange and cooperation on a long-term basis.
